The University of Tulsa Innovation Institute (TUI2), created in Fall 2000, provides an ideal environment for preparing students to potentially develop and lead emerging growth companies. TUI2 allows faculty, students, and practitioners to interact across disciplines by sharing ideas and solutions toward the common goal of transforming students into potential entrepreneurs. TUI2 provides the opportunity for interdisciplinary courses and teams in order to enhance a holistic educational environment emphasizing critical, conceptual, and analytical thinking skills. Students are selectively recruited for this two-year program during their sophomore year, and begin participation in the program during their junior year. During their tenure with TUI2, the students will assist in creating a prototype, investigate technical, legal, business, and design considerations, and finally formulate a business plan. At the conclusion of the program, students may have the opportunity to present their innovation to venture capitalists for further investment possibilities, and receive a Certificate in Innovation and Product Development in conjunction with their bachelor's degree.
