Department Highlights

Hurricane Athletic Training Clinic
The annual Hurricane Athletic Training Clinic will be held on July 15-17 in the Donald W. Reynolds Center on the TU campus. This clinic will give high school students who are interested in athletic training the opportunity to learn basic athletic training skills (i.e. taping, wrapping, splinting), gain information about common injuries and emergency situations, and complete the Sport Safety Training course through the American Red Cross. For more information, click here.

5th Annual TU Athletic Training Day
The Athletic Training program will host the 5th Annual TU Athletic Training Day on Saturday, October 18th. Students will learn about the profession of athletic training, see certified athletic trainers and athletic training students in action on game day, enjoy a pre-game meal, then attend the TU vs. UTEP football game. For more information, click here.

Athletic Training is an allied health field recognized by the American Medical Association. Certified Athletic Trainers specialize in the prevention, recognition, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries due to physical activity.

The Athletic Training education program at The University of Tulsa:

  • Was the first CAATE accredited Athletic Training program in Oklahoma;
  • Involves an extensive core of academic study combined with equally in-depth clinical rotations;
  • Utilizes intercollegiate, interscholastic, and sports medicine clinic settings for the student’s clinical experience;
  • Allows the student to begin the program during their freshman year;
  • Entitles the student to apply for the BOC Certification Examination after completion of degree requirements.
