Department Highlights

Our Student MIS Lab
supports advanced networking and application development. Telecommunication students implement and provide support for the lab's local area network, including horizontal and work area wiring, server installation, user security, and workstation troubleshooting.

At TU, our MIS program is committed to educating students as leaders in a world that requires information and knowledge. In addition to a strong liberal education foundation, we emphasize relevant and integrated technology, systems, people and business knowledge and skills that will enable our graduates to solve problems and create solutions in a rapidly changing world. We strive to provide our graduates with lifelong learning skills, critical thinking abilities, communication skills, information technology skills, and the ability to provide professional team leadership.

Our MIS faculty has created an educational climate whereby our students are motivated to acquire learning abilities that will serve them throughout their professional lives. To achieve this type of learning environment, active student participation and student learning by discovery are important pedagogical aspects used throughout our curriculum.

Personalized Education
Small classes, taught by full time faculty, provide our students with opportunities for personal attention and individual learning experiences. With most class sizes less than 25, our faculty become well acquainted with students early in the program. Students and faculty interact not only in the classroom but also in social settings and student organizations, such as our Information Technologists United (iTU) student organization. This organization also gives our students the opportunity to interact regularly with information systems professionals and other business professionals.
