Job Placement

Landing a good job after graduation requires preparation, connections and a little luck. Students in the TU College of Business Administration have key advantages when it comes to launching their careers:

Professional Preparation

  • Knowledge and skills:
Our programs emphasize practical professional skills. Frequent use of case studies and an active partnership with local firms connect the classroom to current business trends. Our professors routinely work with companies, bring examples and issues back to the classroom and refer students for internships and employment.
  • Experiences: Team projects, internships and study trips give students valuable experience above and beyond the classroom.
  • Technology: TU business courses require students to learn the latest business software, including spreadsheet, database and presentation applications. We invest a lot in keeping our tools current with what businesses are using.
Career Development
The Office of Career Services
offers support for students as they prepare for their chosen careers:
  • Skill-building workshops: Résumé writing, interviewing and negotiating
  • Career assessment and counseling: Explore your interests and abilities and find a career track that’s right for you
  • Career Fairs: Each year, more than 200 representatives from business, industry, government and education visit TU for on-campus interviews at our career fairs.
Connections
TU is well connected with the Tulsa business community, which is diversified and economically strong. These connections benefit students and graduates.
  • Executive Advisory Board: Local and regional business leaders guide and support the college through this board, which keeps our programs on the cutting edge and builds relationships leading to internship and employment opportunities.
  • Internships: Our students routinely intern at leading firms such as Citgo Petroleum, Bank of Oklahoma, Williams, Deloitte & Touche, and others. These internships offer practical experience, résumé enhancement, and valuable bridges into the professional world.
  • Professional Organizations: TU students often participate in campus pre-professional organizations that sponsor special events such as guest speakers and receptions. These not only are a great way to socialize with others; they also connect our programs to the business community. For a listing of organizations, click here.
  • Employers: Companies interviewing TU business seniors include American Airlines, Chevron, Citgo Petroleum, Pricewaterhouse, Coopers, Deloitte & Touche, Schlumberger, Ernst & Young, IBM, Imation, KPMG Pet Marwick, Koch Industries, Leggett & Platt, MCI World Com, Nordam, Phillips Petroleum, Samson, SolArc, State Farm, Texaco, Unocal, and Williams.
