The University of Tulsa Graduate Business Programs has found another way to serve students and make their educational experience at TU even more enriching. Students enrolling in a graduate business program at TU now have the option of signing up for a mentor, offering guidance and relationship building in the professional world. By establishing a professional relationship with an individual, TU students have better access to professional resources and can make an easier transition into the professional world. All students enrolled in any TU graduate business program can request to be paired with an alumnus who has agreed to act as a mentor for a student. Once the match is made, the mentor and student have the flexibility to connect as often as they like and make arrangements that accommodate their schedules. This is the first year the program matched up students with mentors and Director of Graduate Business Programs, Ron Cooper, is pleased with the response. “It’s a great way to get alumni involved and talking about the program,” he said. “The feedback from students and alumni is that the mentor program is very beneficial for both students and alumni.” Currently, the mentor program has 16 students matched with alumni, and as more students request mentors, Cooper will recruit additional alumni to participate. “We need more alumni to get involved,” Cooper said. “It takes very little time and the rewards are fantastic.”
