Wellspring Search
The College of Business Administration is conducting a global search for a prestigious Wellspring Professor, who will be an expert in international business with a focus on China.
"Speaking Chinese and being Chinese would be a plus, but that's not all that is required," said J. Markham Collins, associate dean for the College of Business Administration, who is heading the search committee. "More importantly, the person should be a scholar, a good teacher, an excellent researcher and an expert in contemporary Chinese business."
The professor will start in August 2007 and will teach at least one seminar on international business each semester plus a course in another business discipline, such as finance or accounting, and be devoted to research on Chinese business.
Across campus, nine new Wellspring Professor positions have been endowed by the Chapman Trusts, which have a long history of supporting the University.
President Steadman Upham allocated one of the professorships to the College of Business Administration to enhance global business programs.
The other eight Wellspring professors will be experts in African-American and women's studies; entrepreneurship, economic development and business law; biochemical engineering; materials/nanotechnology; cybersecurity with a specialization in hardware; Chinese; Portuguese; and film with an emphasis on production.
